air con temp erratic
« on: 07 April 2010, 15:59:34 »

Any ideas as to why the temperature control is not functioning as it should on my 03  estate. its difficult to describe but it basically seems to stay in blow hot mode,  and the car temp keeps rising, so I turn down setting by 1 degree and it will then trip onto cool blow mode and stay in that until temp is wound up again .  it may occasionally change modes on its own  but  that seems to be the basic description of the fault. Are there any procedures to go through that would help identify the fault. Many thanks once again for any thoughts put forward. Cheers ...

Mine does that. It usually happens when I've had ECO on for a few days, then I turn it off to start the compressor and it starts to blow hot. I just reset it by totally switching OFF then AUTO again and it's all fine again. :y

What's your outside temp showing? Later cars use outside temp reading for the climate.  :-/

outside temp  displayed seems accurate. In what way do you mean the outside temp is used? Are there still temp sensors inside the car ?...... if not .... How does that work ???

Does this tissue paper test definitely apply to 03 Facelift. I have a vague memory of reading that was only appropriate with  pre- FL .

I'd assumed they were similar. I pulled my PFL dash forward to listen for my sampler fan.  ;)

Can any one confirm whether or not there is a sampler fan on FL models . Is it the 3 tiny slots at the top of the climate control panel?  Mine wont hold a piece of tissue there ....... should it ?? Can anyone confirm that theirs does . Cheers
