Starting problems 2.5V6
« on: 18 April 2010, 13:41:06 »

My miggy (99 t 2.5V6 mini f/l) has developed an intermittant starting problem. Previously it has always started first touch of the key.
Last used friday, and it started first time both trips.
This morning just wouldn't fire up.(nearly flattened the battery) then after a number of attempts it fired up and ran fine. Started fine on return trip.
It has done this a couple of times in the last few weeks, but has always started.
I guess either fuel or dispack. However as I can hear fuel pump prime when igition turned, I guess fuel supply is ok?
Any suggestions appreciated. Haven't done paper clip yet as fault intermittant and no dash lights.

Paper clip it anyway .. you might get a stored crank sensor (19) ... which implies that sensor is on its way out ... it WILL stop the car from firing up. Not a difficult or expensive fix either.

soz to drag this up again.
I am still getting occasional non starting problem. Back to square one would giver either no fuel or no ignition. It is either starting or not. ther is no misfiring partial firing etc. No codes.
So Fuel- is there a relay in the fuel pump supply? Or is it worth pulling the pump out?
Ignition. For no firing is this likely to be Dispack or something in the supply eg relay.
Please help.... :-[

I would still plump for crank sensor as you will probably find it get worse at starting until it finally wont.
