Just got new genuine brake pads to fit and on looking at them two of them have some kind of material on the back and two dont so is there a correct way to fit these ... ie the pad with the material on the piston side 

I can post pics if it would make it clearer

IIRC the backed pads go to the non-piston end, just double check the old ones as they come off

Is this backing material to stop squeeky brakes ... if so do i still need copper grease or what ever its called ?
