Steering centre tie rod
« on: 05 June 2010, 17:23:56 »

Have just found I need to replace the centre tie rod on my V6 and got quite a shock when I started getting quotes for a replacement.  They seem incredibly expensive for a bit of bar and two ball joints!  Does anyone know if there is a company that reconditions these bars and just charges a sensible price for a couple of ball joints and the labour?

Also, I've been offered an old stock unit where one of the ball joints is much stiffer than the other - is this normal, or does it indicate corrosion of the surfaces?

Thanks for any advice offered.

a couple of things here....

firstly, they are expensive - last one I bought was over £100

and secondly, yes the joints are different - one is spherical, whilst the other just rotates
