Try these people - supply Contitech kits (OEM Supplier) and may well be a bit cheaper - http://www.buypartsby.co.uk/timing-belts-and-kits-final.php?year=1999&Submit=Next&make=Vauxhall&model=Omega&sub=&eng=2.5000

I've had 2 Contitech kits off here (for both saloon & estate) - no problems - in fact estate kit will need changing again soon !!

As a newbie, may I please add something. :D.

For my 03 CD auto, I had the cambelt changed at 38,517 after 4 and a half years.  Luckily no problems beforehand.  Now 2 and a half years later, at 48,000, the cambelt sensor is playing up.

When the garage clears out the ecu, no problem is shown, until later on the light comes on again.  Cost of replacing the sensor is about £600, sensor £75, plus new cambelt, tensioner, etc, plus around 5.5 hours labour, plus VAT, plus possibly a new waterpump. :'(

I am holding off at the moment and seeing how it goes, but if I were having to replace the cambelt after the normal 4 years I should think seriously about replacing the cambelt sensor as well, given the amount of work required to change the sensor on its own.

Anyone else got experience of this problem, please? :-/

Welcome to the forum.
As I don't own a 2.2 I'm more familiar with the V6, but I think your garage is pulling your plonker. You have a cam sensor, not a cambelt sensor. I don't know if the cambelt requires removal to replace the sensor, but even if it did you're still not looking at £600.
I'm sure you'll be advised sooner rather than later by someone who knows about 4 cylinder cars  :y

I've found 2.2 the guide  ;)

Cambelt sensor?  Don't have to remove/replace cam belt & tensioners to fit new cam sensor (least not on the 2 litre Astra I've just done).

Cam Sensor does not require the belt to be taken off only the cambelt cover.

Can't see any reason to change the belt, tensioners and water pump if they were only done 10000 and 2 and a half years ago not due yet.

Sensor is about 70 quid for a genuine GM one stay away from pattern parts.

May be advisable if you update your profile with your location, lots of helpful members that may be close by and be able to help.  :y :y

Or try sending a message to Elite Pete or Daz :y
