auto gearboxes/ spares between cars
« on: 22 June 2010, 19:39:27 »

getting a 1998 2.5CDX and Im thinking about hanging onto my 1999 2.0CD  on a SORN just in case things start dropping off the 2.5CDX which I will be running day to day. I imagine most of the engine related stuff will be no use to me but my question is, would I be able to put the gearbox from the 2.0 into the 2.5 if the 2.5's gearbox failed? the 2.0 gearbox was reconditioned only about 16k ago so I think it would still have plenty of life left in it.

I kind of dont want to sent the 2.0 to the scrap yard, on my last visit to Pimhole in bury there was only two omegas(facelifts) so thinking it might be handy to have it sat there in garden ready to take bits off.

Gearbox will go in, torque convertor needs to stay with it. Plenty of other bits and bobs not engine related would also be useful to keep

Yep, 2.0/2.2/2.5 all had AR25 as standard
