Range relay sensor?
« on: 01 July 2010, 20:21:56 »

Hi people, new to all this but got nowt to lose! Took my old mans omega (2.2 ecotec auto 2001) to a diagnostics guy, gearbox issues, no 1st gear,no sport/snow mode, slugish etc! seen other posts about gearbox linkage etc but this guy said it came up as the "Range Relay Sensor" (I think thats what he said?), costing £120, he hasn't ordered it yet as he wants the supplier to sent him a map/plan so he can check the schematics of it as he reckons the part supplier hasn't sold many of these? I've no reason to distrust this guy (diagnostic) as he was recommended to me by someone I know & has used him many a time in his garage business. My father had previous took it to a garage who said 2nd hand gearbox needed etc! Hes retired so £ ain't that easy to spend for the wrong reasons & i'm trying to help as best as I can so any guidence would be gratefully recieved! Paddy. ps location west midlands, black country area.

Thats commonly known as the gearbox selector switch.

can go faulty, but more often that not just need a clean.

see this guide, may save you a few quid...
