Busted ashtray!
« on: 19 July 2010, 21:55:57 »

I'm on a roll tonight guys!

The "Pop Out" ashtray assembly doesn't so much pop out, as flop out! And for "Pop In" read jam the bloody thing in with a matchstick!

I imagine this is a replacement rather than a repair. Anybody done one? How hard/involved is it?

Cheers,
Gaz

nice and easy. :) open the ashtray/remove matchstick. then lift out the stray insert.(there may be a button on one side to press that releases it? :-/ should be obvious but can't picture it. not near car at mo to look.) once you've pulled the insert out, there is just one screw that holds the whole assembley in. as you pull it out you'll need to unplug the wiring from the back of it. this was a bit of a pig as i recall, didn't have much spare wire to play with. :(
it really is a five minute job though :y

Sounds pretty straightforward - but with the gear lever moved away from 'Park' first I imagine?

Once I get it out will it be repairable? Or is a replacement jobby?
