My 2000 facelift MV6 has rear yellow Koni dampers. Has someone replaced these at some stage or will it have left the factory with them? The fronts are no-name and I'm presuming they are just standard VX parts. I can't remember seeing yellow Konis on other MV6's.

Originals will have Boge-stamps and some codes stamped on them. as said above, anything yellow, pink or green is not genuine

That's a bit odd then! The car has done less than 60K miles, so unlucky to have worn out, I wonder why they were replaced? The handling seems fine with the differing dampers front and rear, the springs look the same all round though. I guess I'll never know!

Has the car got or had a towbar? Could be a reason if so.

if theyre yellow koni's then theyre adjustable, that would be why theyve been added, so that the ride comfort can be adjusted to suit the driver. also maybe at some point the car has been lowered? is it on original springs?

you should also have a 'key' to adjust the shocks to suit your preferred drive experience; hard to not-so-hard!

Sorry to be fussy but thats not strictly true........you can buy yellow koni's that arent adjustable.the yellow is purely a manufacturer colour.......you can also buy other colours..

Personally I would say that anything over 40/50k and with the v6 (and especially with the auto) that you would notice the difference if the shox, springs and bushes were replaced. 60k not unlucky. I am in the throws of changing the rear of an 83k that has never had any load in the back, only ever been trundled up the motorway and a spring has broken, the bushes shot and the shox just about to die - this is a 53 plate as well.

If I was thinking of keeping a mig for say 3 or 4 years I would do this lot at the outset of ownership just to get the most out of the fresh suspension as sometime through your ownership it would REALLY benefit from being changed. A combination of KYB springs and Bilstein B4 shox would be a very cost effective way to get back to better than new standard (although not late mv6 ride height).
