EGR Valve

Hi, Does anyone know why someone would blank off the EGR Valve?
I did a paper clip test and it says there is low pressure in regards to my omega's EGR valve. So was wondering would it be better if i blank it, or replace it with a Vx part?

Blanking it, IIRC, won't change the fault code on the 3.0 - the ECU needs to see the correct 'feedback' signals from the solenoid & valve..

Best bet, I'd say, is to pull the valve off and clean the mechanism and blank it (which will stop it getting gunked up again quite so quickly in the future)

Sorry to butt in.Should the valve open and close with little resistance with a screwdriver?

Hi thanks for the replies. Where do I get the EGR Blanking plate/gasket from? I tried ebay, but can not find any proper results.

cut from a coke can or from some sheet metal suitable for its shape.. and open the necessary holes..

This is the correct one for your car (even though it says Vectra etc) and is also the cheapest one listed on e-bay at the moment  :y

Fairly easily, just pushing against the resistance of the return spring.    :y
