What to try or look for next
« on: 19 October 2010, 15:18:36 »

Changed the MAF on my 3.2 elite the other week as I was experiencing erratic idling when cold and kept stumbling when opening throttle. Also getting codes for fuel trim and lambda fault codes generated on both banks. Couldn't find any sign of air leaks so as above changed the MAF for a pattern one which immediately cured idling probs (rock steady at 500 rpm). Over the intervening period however I now keep getting a 0150 Lambda code being generated and I am sure that my MPG has got worse. Now the Lambda sensor 1 Bank 2 was only changed in March this year so cannot believe this has gone faulty already (was new genuine GM). Put old MAF back this afternoon and am back to original idling/stumbling prob when cold (as before seems to be OK when hot and performance is fine). I am now tempted to leave things be for a week or so to see if any codes are generated. However has anyone any ideas of what else I can do or investigate before I surrender and have to go to the local stealers.

Stealerships? No way, avoid big time. Suggest a visit to Kevin Wood, in Alton but worth the treck.

I assume the LPG is off while all this is going on?

Yep seems to happen on both LPG and petrol. Agree that Kevin may be best bet but need to have fixed ASAP and I know Kevin is a busy guy!

Wondering about air leek in the v to that bank? Seals block to inlet wedge and wedge to inlet manifold ok? Plunum o rings seated correctly? Although plenum air leak might be too far away from the manifold to give an air leak on one bank, but then you say there is no air leak?
