I don't think it's possible to fit a rear wiper to the Omega saloon, there isn't anywhere to mount the motor :-?

Best bet would be to put rain-x on the rear window, will drastically improve visibility.

I take you have a saloon. Why do you need a rear wiper? I can only think of a handful of 3 box saloons that have ever had a rear wiper, Orion & a Honda of some sort. A hatch back needs a rear wiper due to the shape of the back of the car & air turbulence throwing crap from the road up & onto the rear screen, a proper saloon doesn't have these problems. Just watch where the rain water flows when it stars to rain on the motorway, you get 2 streams running from the top corners towards the bottom middle. Besides, I don't think there's room for a motor ....... and it'd not look right.  ;)

i can see the need...

Park on your drive, come to reverse out in the morning, cant see a thing for condensation etc....

Yes you can reverse in etc....

I found rainx to be a big help on the move though, screen cleared much faster than with nature alone.

you all must've been driving Euro hatchbacks for too long. None of my cars have had a rear wiper until I bought this Astra and I've been able to see of what is behind me ......  ;)

Can't see where it would fit on a saloon as said, boot fits right up to the wind screen seal and the brake light in the way at the top.

There's always the worm drive type as used by Leyland etc years ago, you'd only need the drive box then by the bottom of the window.

I keep a spare wiper in the boot which I use by hand for such occasions...

Spot on. All I could possibly add to that is that in the case of the Orion/Honda (Ballade, concerto? one of them, anyway) the reason they probably had wipers was a dodgy saloon 'conversion' at the design stage, rather than being given a wiper as 'extra spec.' Dont think that Russelsheim was just being tight by not fitting one. Aquaphobic sprays definitely a good thing, by the way.  :y

Apart from a brief fling with hatchbacks, we've always had at least 1 saloon on the drive.  I have never, ever felt any have needed a rear wiper.

Many hatchbacks don't need them either, only those cars with near vertical backs...

Correct. It's all down to the turbulence over the rear screen at speed that decides whether you need or not a rear wiper. Omegas are very clean cars, aerodynamically.
