Before Christmas I went for an interview with a company nearby for a Senior IT Analyst role. Last week, I was asked back for a second interview and a techincal examination.

Following this, I had a call on Wednesday, offering me the job :)

It's reasonably local, lovely location, and really nice people. 3 month probationary period as with almost any job, but I get a performance related pay review at the end of that period.

In terms of salary, it's a very significant increase indeed, so I'm happy on that front.

And the icing on the cake - it's a 9 - 5 job, so all my weekends will now be free.
I've had the verbal offer, which I have provisionally accepted. Hopefully review and sign a bit of paperwork on monday, and looks like I'll be giving notice to my current employer on Monday afternoon  :y

I can't wait to get back into a normal routine again, my bodyclock is completely ruined doing such strange shift work...

We'll book you in for Newent in August then, if we do it again...  No excuses.. :P

I am told you should aim for £1000 for every year of your age...

Eh, maybe up till about 35, but it starts going downhill rapidly after then !  ;D

Happy to hear that James..Its a better job, better position.. :y

And you will have more spare time..More important night work is over..

Who knows what new chances will bring you this job after..

Try to keep your new relations as good as possible..

This is a very good point. I'd put conditions (and general enjoyment of the job) way above pay, so it's a bonus that you're improving both at the same time :)

:)I'll always be on £25/30k a year (or equivalent over the years) This includes 1 or 2 nights out a week (sometimes none) I could earn more with the right car transporter or tanker company but it's a lot more work / responsibility & i'm one of lifes "only do what i have to people", not a "striver" so container work suits me fine, it's the easiest HGV work for a lazy sod!!! It's all relative i suppose 'cos my house only cost £40k (few years back) & i no longer have a family to support (other than a 22yr old son who dips into Dads pocket here & there)..............does that ever stop?
       Anyway if i do'nt rant i ramble so James/ Tunnie.... :y
