Bonnet cable
« on: 15 November 2010, 20:31:10 »

Hello, my bonnet cable wasn't right so i adjusted it according to the guide in the maintenance section, then all was fine.

Over a period of time it's gradually got worse and I nipped it up, but it just doesn't bite any more so i need another person to open the bonnet.

I've tried adjusting the bracket and using all sorts of configurations of bolts and nuts to sort it but it just won't have it.

Has anyone else got a good solution? Good guide BTW but mine is fubarred now!

I've got a bonnet cable here, yours may have stretched over time with all the adjustments :y

I think it has stretched a bit but it's still fine in that respect. I just think the mechanism is a bit rubbish that's all. That daft little screw thing just perishes.

If I bought a new cable would the screw thing come with it?

Thanks

The little self tapper is not the best idea, I replaced one with a nut & bolt, (actually I think I used two nuts so the bolt was a fixture) worked a treat, and could be adjusted perfectly.
I think the screw will be OK, its the hole that gets the wear.
