Window glass - how to??
« on: 30 November 2010, 18:37:03 »

Hi all,

Is there a write-up anywhere on how to remove the E/W motors?

I need to strip out the motors from a set of doors, and can see to separate the glass from the mechanism.

It's (sort of) obvious that the glass is clamped to a holder so the window has to be part down to access it - but beyond that I'm stumped.

Thanks in anticipation.

Un-plug the motor, drill out the pop rivets holding the motor in to the door having someone hold the glass in place (a bit of duct tape over the top works too ;) ), slowly lower the glass and the motor slides off the runner :y

This may sound stupid but make sure the Ign is off and the switch disconected when your fiddling with the mechanism, I had a near miss with my mates merc which nearly took my fingers off! very powerful motors in them :-[
