really starting to wish i'd kept the omega! the 6 small bits of welding the jag needed for an mot turned in to a 14 hour solid weld-a-thon! everytime the grinder attempted to find clean metal all it found was more holes, filler and rust! one bit alone, the o/s/r wheel arch area took 9 carefully made plates and hours of grinding welding and filling, every small bit of excessive corrosion turned into a huge bit of excessive corrosion! but its all done now and in for mot in the morning...............can only hope! on the bright side chris loves my omega and has been having great fun in it! grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!!! ;)

They do say that Jags rust where most cars don't have places! :y I would still love one though.
I took my car to have the A/C re-gassed at an independant Jag specialists. He runs a rare Daimler (XJ6) Coupe.

Old Jags have just never floated by boat.

Wouldn't mind a X type, but only coz one out dragged and outhandled my MV6 a couple of years back  :'(

No space in them though, I couldn't get comfortable driving a manual one (Offset pedals) and to put the seat back as far as I need left no space for passengers legs in the back. Whole thing is far too cramped.

Possible, but any car that can outdrag my MV6 at full bore up the A420 from Oxford, and hold the corner whilst my back end is trying to overtake me (it was piddling down) at silly speeds has got to be worth a look imho...

I think it's the bigger 2.5 V6's that are 4wd.

Quite possibly a 3.0, or a manual 2.5. And either of those have the option of AWD (may be standard on 3.0). The 3.0 is in the same power league as the BMW 330i -- that is a fair bit more than the meeg. Over 230 BHP anyway. Just looked up the 0-60, quoted as 6.6 secs for the manual, so if it's raining and it has AWD it's quite easily pulling away from a manual 3.0 Omega, let alone an auto.

And, despite being FWD, the Mondeo chassis is known for being pretty good. Certainly I'd have one over a Vectra without a second of hesitation if that was the choice given to me.

I think the reality is, even in 3.0 guise the Omega isn't fast -- too damn heavy for its 208 or so horses :)

Yeah the newer ones are more powerful again, I was referring to the E46 which is around the same era as the Omega -- at least the facelift ones. The new 330i is around 260 BHP, the 335i (which is a 3.0 with two low-pressure turbos) is 310 BHP.

new jags are'nt really jags at all, except for the xj series, they're all bits of fords now! buy an xj40 and spend many happy hours welding it up! the only ford on a 40 is the locks and guess what, they always play up! it's just passed its mot this morning ;D ;D
