my headlights are rubbish

The headlights are rubbish on my 2.2dti estate,is there anyothers that fit and you can see where you are going on dipped beam,i have tried better bulbs but it made no differance realy.

Have you tried "Osram Nightbreaker" bulbs :question

does the glass look cloudy? what condition are the reflectors in? could be as little as a bad earth on them, are they shining clear or yellow?

I had exactly the same problem on the exactly the same type of mig. Apart from previously mentioned solutions two other things can be done.

1) Check your headlight beam adjusters for continental driving settings. Inside each of  the headlight unit (behind the rubber cap) is a small metal lever which changes the shape of the beams from symetric to assymetric simply by moving it up and down. (Quick and easy)

For UK your headlight beam should look like this  \__   ___ when shone against a wall.  You may have it set  like this __  __ which will greatly reduce LH kerb vision. It is possible that this lever has been moved accidentally while changing a headlight bulb. Probably easiest to try moving the lever with the headlights showing on a wall or other surface.

2) Take apart the headlight and gently clean the inside of the plastic lens cover. Quite a bit of black gunge came off mine.
 (Much more difficult and time consuming) There is a very good guide somewhere on here.
