Please tell me I am missing something obvious
« on: 14 January 2011, 19:31:19 »

2.5 V6 98 plate. Big misfire, water in plugs 4 & 6, removed plugs and leads cleaned, dried and refitted, now it refuses to start. Plugs, leads and coil pack were replaced last year. Turns over fine, spark evident as well as petrol, replaced crank sensor - no joy. What is going on? Have raised this issue already and tried everything suggested but I must be missing something basic. Even with the misfire it would start and run on 4 cylinders, not now.  :(

Elite now gone.  Bought an X-Type 4x4.  If there had been an Omega 4x4 I would have bought that instead.  We really liked the Omega, but I wanted 4x4.

The tip I was told to do was to remove all the spark plugs get someone to look in engine bay. turn the car over and see if any water comes out the spark plug holes. When I did mine 4 was like a fountain.  :'( :'(

Will check tomorrow, SWMBO is going shopping, my orders are 'get it sorted'!  :o
Plugs leads are numbered both ends, all water was gone from the plug wells, have checked as many connections as possible but as said will check all again. Thanks for the responses.  :y

Do a paperclip test (see the link at the bottom of my post) and post back the results.

Will repeat test tomorrow but when I did it a short while ago all I got was a code for the oxygen sensor and the engine not running.  :-/

Fixed it  :D :D :D :D :D
Coil pack, which was new last year, was the problem, put a new one on and the beast started first time. I am one happy bunny!  ;D ;D
Tried it with the new pack sat on the plenum so now all I have to do is fit it properly and off we go.
Thanks to all the oofers who helped with their suggestions.  :y
