Power steering question
« on: 26 January 2011, 18:00:54 »

Hi,
Can someone answer me what are the differences on power steering pumps on Omega B (preface lift)?

Guy on junk yard told me that i have to see first what steering pump I have. I have power steering leek somewhere underneath. My car is 1996 2.5 V6. Plate No. WOL000026V1120783 if this helps.

Mini Facelift and Facelift Power Steering Pumps are the same, but what is different is the end of the pipe, the union that screws into the pump if that makes sense.  :y

I understand that all V6's have servotronic power steering ie max assistance at parking speeds & minimum, if any, assistance at speed. 4 cylinder car don't have servotronic power steering, so you need the pump with the electrical connection.  :y

Forget what I just posted.  :-?
The electrical input is on the steering box.
The steering pump itself doesn't have an electrical connection. :y

some cars have a steering rack, others ie Omegas have a steering box. The steering column enters the steering box and as you turn the wheel the output is via the pitman arm. It's what makes the wheels turn left or right when you turn the steering wheel.  :y

OK, thats the thing than what he was talking about. Steering box with wire. What difference is there. Is mine 100% with wire and can steering liquid come out of the box?

I have also a little empty space when turning the steeringwhel.
Also when turning from one to the other side (on standing still) i got a kick (klick) sound?

Anyone may answer this?
