Oil pressure lost on oil change
« on: 28 January 2011, 09:11:48 »

Hi.
I can use some help.
A friend was canging oil on my car. After the job there was no oil pressure in the engine. At least not in the headers. they are making a lot of valvenoise. New filter and oil. Is it the oilpump or can it be somthing else? Thevalve next to the filter has been changes with no result. Even tried a second filter.
the car in question are 1996 2.5 V6 CD X25XE

What oil did you use, and how much did you put in?  (where is it on the dipstick now?)

It sounds like the oilchange perhaps dislodged some 'gunk' that's now been sucked up and is blocking the oil pickup in the sump, to me..

Probably worth pulling the sump off and checking the pickup - if I recall, on the 2.5s, that's quite easy as you only need to pull the rearmost sump on the engine..

Was the oil change performed via the sump plug, or the dipstick tube/vacuum extraction?
