oil cooler

hi guys
quick question
sorry for being thick but does the oil cooler cool the engine or gear box oil
and if it cools the engine oil then would you see a drop in oil level if the cooler failed

Oil cooler, cools engine oil, if oil cooler has gone or going oil will be in your water system  :y

it sits in the valley of the 'V' in full coolant flow, so good coolant maintenance is essential. If it starts to leak, then oil goes into the coolant system  :y

There are 2 oil coolers on auto models

One in the V of the engine as said - and one in the Radiator, for cooling the auto transmission fluid

I expect it's the engine cooler you're referring to, though.

Do you have a fault, or are just curious? :y

thanks for the repliies
actually i have taken out the oil cooler from the v as i was loosing oil and was get like a sludge in the water
