Gearbox change down problem
« on: 27 February 2011, 14:10:54 »

I am new to this great forum and so far it has helped me sort out a lot of issues with my 51 3.2 Elite. However I'm stumped with a recent gearbox problem. The car drives fine under normal conditions but brisk acceleration forcing a kickdown brings on a flashing EML which then changes to permanently on. The engine then runs very lumpy and I have to pull over, switch off and on then it clears it.

I checked for fault codes and got P0742 - Torque Convertor Clutch Circuit Stuck on.

I cleared the code and got the car to do the same again but I don't get any more fault codes - is it relevant?

Any ideas on what to do would be much appreciated.

Check the fluid level as a first port of call, otherwise - more expert help needed.
