I get occasional issues with mine - always connected to running fuel low or refilling - mine is a V6 though. Once every 3 or 4 months.

Can you rule out fuel as an issue?

cheers pscocoa yes the car was on fumes then i refueled it then the light came on

If you have an exhaust leak before the cat (Eg, at the manifold) then this could very well be the cause

ok - suggest refuel, reset code and see how it goes - the older the cat the more prone to this sort of thing.

If you have a Maxscan or similar then just reset rather than moving sensors etc. At an occurrence frequency of 3 times a year it is not really a problem given variations in fuel at petrol stations - in my view at least.
