Miss fire under load? coil pack woes!
« on: 11 April 2011, 08:48:47 »

As much as i like my Omega & it does me proud taking me all over the country at speed full of tools i would love to meet the man who thought putting the coil pack here was a good idea, and then kick his ass!

Now as you can see its wet, this i assume is the cause of my miss fire but where is it coming from? there is a coolant hose running above the coil pack but its dry and in very good condition, well i fitted new coil pack anyway as i had it & im not gonna go to the trouble of fitting one twice and went for a spin, all was well till shortly after i used the windscreen washers & itt started to miss fire again, when i took the scuttle panel off, AGAIN, i found the windscreen scuttle panel joint to the bulk head was leaking where the foam had wasted away, what foam was left was sodden through, so Supra to the rescue, i cut some of the upper bulkhead seal i kept when i removed it and glued it in place and hey presto

A perfect water tight seal!

Although i still want to kick the guys ass who said "lets fit the coil pack there"

Has anyone else had this problem with water from the screen area causing a missfire?

common issue, it leaks from around the windscreen wiper arm to the scuttle. Smear some sealant around the base of each arm, it gets in, soaks into the foam, then drips onto the Plenum/DIS pack
