Miggy specialists / enthusiasts
« on: 13 April 2011, 11:35:56 »

A few weeks ago I had the code P0743 which I was informed was the solonoid or the torque converter. Being advised to try the cheaper option and replace the solonoid I did to the cost of about £120 including New ATF fluid and gaskets plus the solonoid. Now having put it all back together the code still not clearing. Any advice if I picked the wrong option which I think I have and need the torque converter changed should I just try and get a second hand gearbox and as asked before how difficult is it to replace.

P0743 Torque Converter Clutch Circuit Electrical.        According to the last I have.

By "not clearing" do you mean not clearing with a code reader? Or is it not clearing itself?
If cleared with a code reader and it still returns then the code is current and not historic......?

Hmmm... Apart from the torque issue when chipping oil burners the auto boxes are normally pretty reliable :-/ :-/

As Chris says, cam sensor is known to throw up all sorts of strange problems with 4 pots

Surely it would'nt throw up a P0743 code.

It can throw up a hat full of auto box codes... Have you checked for engine codes?

Failing that a wiring issue?

Ps, need to see that code cleared and see if it returns, ultimately. Are you near any of the tech2 owners on here.

When my Cam sensor went I had all sorts of random gearbox codes come up. Changed sensor and hey presto no more problems with strange codes :y

Cam Sensor does through a gearbox code, but not that one.

I would suggest the diags were poor.

The TC itself if normally mega reliable - never heard of one failing.
