Traction Control / Gearbox problem
« on: 07 June 2011, 19:42:49 »

Hi guys

can anyone shed any light on a problem.  i wont bore you with too many details but lets say that following an error with a cam belt kit from the supplier i have recently had a new (reconditioned) engine fitted to my Omega 2.5 v6.  since then the traction control light has been sticking on with the computer saying check automatic gearbox and the car stuck in high gear with no kickdown.  it has been back to the garage today and they have run diagnostic check but it seems to be showing a pre-code(???) with no actual error code.  they seem to think that it will develop a code and think it is a sensor problem (it was disconnected from the battery).  it is ok to drive but have to use like a manual.  i have got over 600 miles to do this weekend so the code may appear but i would be grateful if anyone has any ideas.

many thanks

tony

Read the fault codes yourself and post them up....note, no such thing as a 'pre-code' on these units.

As said...look up paperclip test, very easy to do yourself and it will tell you if there are any codes...

Perhaps the ECU you now have was from the new engine...if the car it came from was manual then it would complain about the auto box :y

paperclip test only does engine fault codes.  ;)
