Autovaux - odd problem
« on: 31 January 2008, 11:32:28 »

Bought some complete track rod end assemblies. That's two ball joints and the adjuster in the middle for both sides. Cost around £90 for the lot incl VAT. Mines a facelift so they're a bit different to the pre-facelift parts which are easier and cheaper to get.

Anyway after about 8 months I was servicing the car and I found the rubber boots had just fallen apart.

Phoned Autovaux, who were very good and sent out replacement parts. Fitted them and paid to get the tracking done (and paid to send the original parts back). 2 months later I've noticed the boots are failing again.

All the other rubber boots on the car are fine and some are original.

Phoned Autovaux, now just about 12 months from first order, and again they're sending replacements. Trouble is how long will these last.

Autovaux say the parts are OEM and they have no alternative supplier.
They also say they've had no other problems with anyone else......

Anyone else had any similar problems?

I have on the Westfield. I used to put it down to the fact that it gets kept in a dry garage most of the time, and perhaps this causes the rubber to perish. At one point I was replacing the ball joint rubbers annually.

Hmm I use the Omega every day. I thought they may be some contaminant on the rubber.
