faulty auto box??

just bought my auto omega and its struggling to find 2nd 3rd gears..revs like hell for a short while then seems 2 find gear..drove 100 miles today perfectly but then fault light came on tonight..pls help :(

Could be the 2nd / 3rd gearbox solenoid inside the box?

Are you able to get any codes read from the gearbox ecu?

But one of the first and cheapest things to check for is low fluid level, the colour of the fluid, and if there are metallic particles in the gearbox fluid.

thanks gooseman 4 reply..got it booked in for service on monday so will ask about oil levels then...only bought it tuesday been fine really but now a little worried :-[

Go to this link (lots of useful info here) and scroll down to till you find the info you want relating to code reading.  Depends on what model of Mig you have

Make sure the garage knows to check the level with the engine running or you will end up with too little fluid.
