Yes, quite right. Load behind the axle will cause weight to shift from the front of the car to the rear using the rear axle as a fulcrum, so the increase in load at the tyre will be more significant than expected. It also takes weight off the front axle so, in the extreme, would reduce the stability of the combination.

...but, if you have heavy duty rear springs and spring assisters fitted, like what I have, the rear end only drops by about 1/4".

Still puts a lot of load on the rear tyres though.

I understand all the cantilever / wheelies induced by rear weight feel and gets worse the further back it is etc.

But what psi? Exactly?


Personally...
Adding LPG tank has given a "slightly light" front end feel,(only slightly) and rear camber seems slightly more pronounced. It is lowered, but was set up at the same time prior to LPG. Probably should get it set again, and they can have yet another go at getting the steering wheel straight.

I intend to tow a bike trailer,Plus tools, fuel, kit etc for track days. Won't be any passengers but the back seats will be likely loaded with stuff anyway.

What psi please?  :)

Can't see a bike trailer with 180 odd kg bike having the same nose weight as I pikey wagon and don't consider the car to be fully loaded. Or is it?  :-X

Having fitted LPG to 2 of my cars now I tend to up the rear pressures a little when "empty" or light load to compensate for the extra weight ;)

Especially in the Estate as the tank is behind the rear axle instead of over it ::)
