Picture this.

You walk away from the car deadlocking it.

You go shopping.

u got back to the car, you take your keys and press the button on the remote to open the boot only.

Your put you shopping in the boot and sit the keys down too by mistake.

You close the boot.

You never unlocked the doors, they remain deadlocked and the keys are in the boot.

I've experienced this.  ::)

That is just what i have done a good few time >:( >:(.

Sorry for the daft question, but how does a car end up deadlocked with the only keys in the boot?

Easy on facelift saloon, the car can be locked, you press the boot release on the remote (which does NOT unlock the car) only release the boot. You put shopping in, keys accidently fall in and you shut it.

Your then donald ducked.

Now it makes sence.   :-/ As I dont have a facelift i wasnt aware of this.

Update:

It worked! vxomega1978's method worked and I unlocked the car in about half an hour with no damage done. It's surprisingly easy.

Now for the twist in the story.....you may have guessed, the leys weren't there. It now appears that my girlfriend Andrea (micky taking positively encouraged by everyone ALL weekend at Newent!!!) picked them up Friday evening by mistake, thinking thay were hers.  She then changed her mind about going out and so they were sat in her coat pocket.

Who's "so clumsy" dear????  :-?

Thanks for all the help guys. The help and advice from this forum is priceless.  :y

Hey, so i have the same problem although, my keys are visible on the back seat... My car is a Holden Vectra Im guessing they are pretty much the same... any idea how i can get in to get my keys??? bought the car second hand so there's no spare... :(
The keys i have dont seem to work the central locking, but all of a sudden they started working again, when i was cleaning my car i had it unlocked, placed the keys on the seat and shut the door to take rubbish to the bin when i get back the car is locked???????? keys just decided to lock the car for me!!!!! wtf???
