Breather pipes and IACV gasket, advice needed.
« on: 10 July 2011, 18:49:34 »

Hi guys, first post here so hope it's in the right place.

I've read the guide on how to clean out the breather pipes and IACV and thought I'd take the plunge and give it a go. However, the 2 hoses indicated are knackered on mine, starting to fall apart so guess the best bet would be to simply replace them. The advice I'm after is where is the best place to buy them (silly question, but do they have specific names?) and roughly how much would they cost.

Also, IACV gasket, again, where from and how much should I expect to pay?

Any info you can offer would be greatly appreciated. Thx

Welcome to the forum fella.  :)

There may be cheaper places to get the items you mention, but the total price won't come to much buying them direct from a Vauxhall dealership.  I think most dealers will know what you're after from a verbal description, but take a photo and print it out to help them, or ask them to come out to the car and look!
Throttle body gasket should really be on your shopping list as well, if you are going to remove the throttle body for more effective cleaning.

Another option is to send a private message to (or telephone) a member on here called andyc.  He's a helpful guy who works at a Vx dealership, and will mail-order stuff out to OOF members.
Search within 'Members' tab for his details, using the username exactly as I've written it above.  He'll have no trouble finding/supplying the part numbers you need.   :y

Thanks Abiton. I'll give my local VX dealer a call and see what they say. Hadn't planned on doing the throttle body as well, but after reading the guide I think it's probably best to give it a go.

Didn't have the parts in stock but have ordered them for me. Should be here Wed/Thurs. Providing they've got the right parts it came to just under £20 inc vat. Fingers crossed I don't mess it up when I do it though lol
