Hi guys just a quick 1,tomorrow I will be leaving Britains fair shores 4 five weeks and am wondering which is the best course of action,Leave it,but Im not sure if the Power Sounder will trip or Disconnect Battery,cannot remove power sounder,all tools in van and thats away for repairs.

BUT if the mate turns out to be a taxi driver, then would it be sensible to disconnect and leave?? i would say yes, but also want to know others view too?

Get a torx bit, unscrew the scuttle in the drivers side corner, reach in and disconnect it. And if you have a ten mill spanner remove it.

But then if you have no tools anyway...  :-?

Edit. For 5 weeks disconnect the car battery anyway if pos. It will be flat on return.

Buy an el cheapo dash mounted solar trickle charger and this will keep your battery on a trickle charge whever there is sunlight.
 ::)Quite why you want to retain the Power Sounder though is well beyond me cos it is not the main car alarm anyway! All they do is to cause many problems once their internal batteries start to fade, and the batteries are not replaceable because they are not made any more! Most oofers have already removed or disconnected them due to their constant problems. As long as the main single alarm horn (next to the black square power sounder) works its as safe as it can be anyway.
There have been loads of articles about this same subject in the past few pages anyway, have a browse through them and see if they can help you.

A cheap (£10 from Maplin) solar trickle charger worked well for my Transit during the summer, not so well in the winter. 

Most of them plug into a cigarette lighter socket, which is fine in something as crude as an old Transit.  But might not work in an Omega, partly because the sockets are turned off automatically and partly because the manual says not to connect any charging device to them. 

So you might have to rig up a cigatette lighter socket directly from the battery, as mentioned in another current thread.

Oh, almost forgot - I had no trouble finding cheap replacement batteries for my power sounder. 

And I kept the unit connected because I didn't want the faff of getting my insurance company to accept my modified alarm system after they had initially given me cover on a car with a full Thatcham standard fit.  And you know that the b*ggers would use that as an excuse to wriggle out of a claim if they possibly could.
