Dash board coating.
« on: 03 August 2011, 06:29:07 »

Hi All
I have just bought a 1999 2.5 Omega and there is a soft black wax type coating on and around the radio,
this coating has been scratched and the radio buttons have turned white. Also the same near the gear lever but underneath the wax is wood fascia,.is this coating supposed to come off or can I get it repaired.
Thanks for any replies.

You will find that it a common problem that happens to all of those with that 'soft' effect coating. It is meant to be there so as not to shine but when it wears there is literally nothing you can do to replace it. There is no paint made for it. Many just get on witht the ball aching job of rubbing it all off...... The switches with the coating can be replaced easily and some second user ones are cheap if you can find them in good nick. The other trim with the coating is a different ballpark and a lousy job to change, not to mention the sheer expense...
Sorry m8, but if it looks really bad I would just remove it.  ;)
