This is a silly thing to probably mention, because it's sooo minor.

But it's enough for me to notice and want to look at.

On the new Mini facelift, I notice that when cornering, accellerating, braking, going over bumps etc.. there is a creaking.

NOT from suspension etc which is all new - it's from the interior. Sounds like the doorcards, or somewhere in the interior. I suspect door cards.

Any advice? It would be fantastic to sort this out, driving the facelift is quiet inside by comparison.


I am thinking take door cards off one by one, drive, and see if it goes away?

Remove rear seat

Bend the sheet metal of lower floorpan in the area of the crossmember (receiver for rear seat) with suitable tool (through the first opening in the crossmember) downwards (beat out)

If it sounds like its coming from the door cards could be that the rubber door seals are making the noise as over the years the rubber appears to compress slightly.

One quick way to confirm this is to rub a smear of silicone lubricant over the rubber and see if the creaking stops.

If so you will have to adjust the striker plates slightly to make the doors shut tighter, this is fiddly to get right but it worked a treat on my old Omega which deveoped the the same irritating noise.

is it the seat belt slider things on the centre pillars? mine creak at the same times you say, its right in my ear and really really annoying! it was quite hard to figure where it was coming from, got my dad to crawl round with his ear close to all the panels whilst i was driving!
