Remote Range
« on: 10 June 2008, 21:12:13 »

Since fitting my new battery on the Elite I noticed a big improvment on the range of the centrall locking.

In a previous thread I wrote that I could lock/unlock the doors through my mates living room window on the GLS but not on the Elite.  But if I held the remote to my head I could open the Elites locking.

But now with the new battery fitted the doors unlock and lock okay through the windows and with out using my head as an amp.

Just thought it worth a mention as the range of the remote and its operation has been commented on in other threads.

Mines the same.... but a week or two later and it's back to useless regardless of which fob I decide to change the battery on and use.

Sorry, the improvement on mine was after changeing the 74amp main battery.  I havent changed the fob batteries yet.  Need to get  new batteries 1st and then find out what the proceedure is with regards to changeing them.

What is this battery and where is it installed Skruntie?  I never knew it existed and believed the only batteries were in the fobs!

If you lift your bonnet and stand at the front between the headlights it is to the right in the corner behind the headlight((N/S)

It's a big sqaure thing with 2 battery terminals on it.

It's main function is to store enough power to engage and rotate the starter motor to start the car.

Secondry fuctions include.

Powering the car alarm system.
Storing Radio codes.
Supplying power for listenening to the radio during lunch hour cat naps
etc etc

Please note.  Different cars/models require different battery ratings.

Am sorry Lizzie, I could'nt resist that one.

You bastxxxd!  I have only now seen the rest of this thread! ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D lol

Mind you, I always wondered what that black or white or grey thing was! ;D ;D ;D ;D

No seriously I just wondered what other 74amp battery you could be talking about! ;) :y  I know police motorway patrol cars had / have secondary battery banks for their additional electrical accessories.

Yes!  Get that filthy engine bay cleaned up!  It is a disgrace, and you should be drummed of the oof! ;D ;)
