cdc1 loom problem / question
« on: 01 October 2008, 23:02:48 »

hi all

got a philips sc804 headunit and cdc1 disc changer out of an omega elite. also have the loom between the two (obtained through mutantcav separately).

got a question re wiring this up. i got the loom through the post yesterday but was expecting a plug each end; one to go into cdc1 changer and one to go into head unit. the loom has the plug for the disc changer but the other end is a load of cut wires, no plug to fit into head unit.

i need to be able to plug one end into head unit, one into disc changer (or something to that effect) to get them working together in my other car. currently just have the head unit working in there.

anyone able to advise how to connect the two using the loom so that they start working together? i was hoping for plug and play really...  :-/

thanks in advance

In the Omega, the loom from the head unit runs down to the drivers footwell...the loom from the CDC1 runs down the car again to the drivers footwell where it connects up via a large grey plastic connector that bolts around the gearbox ECU...the wires will need to be wired in to the connector in the footwell...

so the bit in the footwell is, presumably, just a connector that sticks the two cables together making the bit that goes from head unit to footwell almost like an extension lead? in theory, if im right, this would mean that i could put the right plug on the end of the wires i have here and go straight into the head unit?

there has to be a simple way of this cable going into the back of the head unit... i just want head unit > cd changer, thats it!  :(

Its possible mate...I can send you a) the grey connector so you can see where the wires are plugged into it and b) the connector into the back of the stereo then you can match the wiring?? Only about 10 or 12 wires to connect...

cheers chris that would be awesome, you never know i might be able to fuse the wires together or use the plug into the back of the head unit to create a complete loom...  fingers crossed  :y  :y
