ccrt - should just be hit the button, then enter code.

If that fails, ign on, radio off, radio on, should prompt for code.

I'm guessing its either in a wait state due to bad code entry, or locked.

I guess it must be locked, I'm not technically minded but it doesn't matter what buttons I push it still says "safe". Is there any way out?

right, i've just read the destructions for that unit.

turn on, it should say radio safe, and ---- and you enter code via keypad and press OK

If it simply reads safe, that means its in the wait state due to incorrect code entry. This wait state can be from 10s to about 12hrs, depending how many attempts you have. If you have had more than 10 attempts, its bricked.

So, leave radio on, and it should prompt you for code. Do not turn it off during this wait state, else the timer starts again from scratch.

If it is bricked, Dave DND can reset it, but its a pig to do, so I guess not that cheap.

I bet it's cheaper than a new one from Vx. I asked a few years back ..... £850+vat for the head unit.  :-?  :-?  :-?

YAY!!!!! that did it!  Thanks a lot guys.  If anybody else asks TheBoy got it about right, if it says "safe" leave it turned on until the screen goes blank (this could take minutes or hours) when you switch on again you should be able to enter the code.
Pat on the back for TheBoy.
