phone aerial
« on: 01 July 2009, 11:51:44 »

When I bought the Omega, the stubby roof aerial was missing. I stuck a whip aerial on which I had lying about. I get phone reception, but I'm sure it could be better. Is the stubby GPS specific. There's loads of the really short (65mm) rubber ones on ebay for citroens/pugeots etc. Would they fit and/or work - I think the vauxhall thread is 6mm, which other cars are.
Anybody know what a genuine stubby mast replacement would cost from Vauxhall and the part number?

Assume you mean GSM and not Sat, is the phone VX fitment or an After Install phone kit. 65mm whip sounds about right for GSM but at them frequencies the Base of the antenna also comes into play i.e., how much of the base is sticking out above the bodywork.

Sticking a normal FM / AM whip on it is not going to do the phone any favours.

Why not post some Pics of the Base.

Thanks for the reply Zirk. I do of course mean GSM. It is the factory fit phone (CCRT 800 HU). Not sure how to up a photo, but the base is complete as installed and am sure it's all fine. Just need to know what kind of screw in aerial will fit and work.
