I guess this has been asked hundreds of times but I can't seem to find a definitive answer.

I have a couple of bulbs out on the dash, at least one on the instrument cluster and x amount on the climate panel, all the switch lights work but can't see the LED (or LCD?) displays all 3 appear to be not working.

I was thinking of going down the LED bulb route but there seems to be a lot of conflicting views on them, LEDs not bright enough or don't last long enough etc.

any serious views for or against these?

Or if I stay with normal bulbs which type would I ask for and how many? I don't really want to take the bulbs out put the dash etc back drive to get the bulbs then have to remove everything again, if you get my drift, I'd rather have everything at hand to start with

Stick to normal bulbs.

I've been down the LED route when I had my Vectra, went with blue, then white. To be honest they look a bit naff now I look back.

If you do decide to go for LEDs try to get some flat topped ones. The normal dome tops produce a distinct spot and not much else around it. The flat tops distribute the light a bit more evenly. Bear in mind that if you do go LED then you might want to change all the switch lights too including those that light when that particular switch is 'on'

You want 4 for the MID if a standard MID, 3 if its a CCRT one.  3 for the dash and 3 for the climate. I cannot recall the correct type, am sure someone will be along shortly. You'd be best off taking the dead one's with you when you purchase new ones.

Firstly there are 4 bulbs in the MID, 5 bulbs in the climate panel, and 12+ in the dash. How to's are here:-

That's excellent guys, thanks, so it looks like I'm definitely replacing them with normal bulbs, the how to's are fairly easy to follow, the only thing I need to know now is the type of bulbs (size (if there is a difference) and wattage, I'm assuming they're all 12v) and whether I should change all the warning ones as well.

The smaller bulbs are soldered in the holders and are 12 volt 1.2 watt, the larger bulbs are push fit to the holders and are 12 volt 5 watt

IIRC the MID bulbs are 2W

They are supposed to be but most local motor factors only stock the 1.2w, if you can get the 2w then fit the correct type.

Yes they should have all 3 types

[edit]You'll need 19 0r 20 of the 1.2w, 4 of the 2w and 4 of the larger 5w to change all of the dash, mid and climate [/edit]

Rather than going to Halfords, go to a local motor factors, as much cheaper to buy a box for the quantity you are after than buying them individually
