Sorry to bump my own topic, but has anyone got any further suggestions?   :) :) :)
Or have I got to take it to somewhere where I have to pay? :( :( :(

Off to Wales on Monday - looks like the cricket will be finished - don't want to have to rely on talking to the wife for entertainment en route. :(

Of course, I could go from Suffolk to Cwmbran via the West Midlands (my brother-in-law always used to go that way, but he's a bit weird), but I really don't think the wife would be too amused at having to sit and watch us tinkering with a car.  And you probably have a job (unlike me) and therefore need to work during the day.

I won't be taking the problem to my regular garage.  Despite hating the Vauxhall V6 engine with great passion, the boss there usually does a good job on the Omega.  But he's the sort of bloke who would have thrived in an earlier time as a village blacksmith.  I don't think that hitting the changer with a big hammer is necessarily the best approach...

Nothing generally.  However, since that was the first thing I tried, I can say with authority that it didn't help on this occasion. :)

Mind you, after 25 years of running a garage, I expect my friend David has a much better idea of precisely how hard you have to hit the thing to make it work :) :) :)
