satnav problem

hi guys, this is my first post be gentle with me, i have a 98 opel omega fitted with the original phillips satnav it's a bit agricultural but worked okay until yesterday when it decided it was not going to scroll past the letter v does anyone have a clue what has caused this to happen, also i suspect that the cd is o/e since the car was new can anybody tell me if their is a later version & if so where can i get one.

     any help will be really appreciated, thanks. bikermike

does it scroll 'pre' v or has it locked altogether? if the latter then could be loose wire from control unit?

might be worth pulling power from unit for an hour or so.

Sadly, I think both teleatlas and navteq have dropped that unit specifically, though being CARiN, probably would work with most carin CDs.  I run a 2007/8 one in mine from another car (BMW in my case).

Don't be tempted to use CDRs in that unit, the laser will wear out much quicker.
