Hi all, newbie with ccrt700 problems :(
« on: 30 September 2009, 09:26:38 »

Hi guys,
My name is Simon and I have just bought a '98 cdx omega with the ccrt700 cd changher system fitted. When I bought the car, everything was fine. CD changer worked etc etc all was hunky dory  :y

but then I left the lights on over night and deadened the battery... My brother put the jump leads on the wrong way round and it popped the fuse for the back of the head unit. This is now changed, but the cd changer doesn't seem to be receiving power. does anyone have a wiring diagram so that I can check this? Also is there another inline fuse specifically for the changer anywhere? it's a blaupunkt jobby.

Also everything else works fine on the car, and I can't see any damaged fuses underneath the steering column.
Any help would be greatfully received, as I really would like to keep the stereo thats in it rather than swap it out for an aftermarket one.

Regards,
Simon

Welcome aboard Simon :y Check fuse 6 under the steering column, should be a 20a, also check the fuses mounted above the battery.

Replacement has to have:

Identical 'Ident' code (2 large letters on sticker), as there are a couple of different, incompatible, indentical looking CDC2s fitted to Omega, and yours is teh least common

The security code

You might be lucky enough to get one from a car being broken by a forum member.

There is a guy on ebay - "nigelthemechanic" who is selling a 700, so chances are that he may have the changer too. He is breaking a whole '99 Elite saloon so you may well be able to get a complete Bose setup from him.

He is a nice guy and has is mob number in the ebay listing.

well a bit of a development today. I opened the case up again, and noticed a TINY resistor was burned. So I soldered a piece of wire to bridge it, and hey presto! I have a cd changer again!

I have, however broken one of the two microswitches now when I put the pcb back in with the cassette loaded, so I'm off to maplins for a new one to put in it's place.

Thanks for all the help guys :)
