'Lights-on' alarm, and deadlocking issue
« on: 13 October 2009, 11:19:14 »

'98 2.0L CDX manual.

Recently (about 6 months ago) I noticed that the alarm to warn of lights left on stopped working.  At about the same time, I noticed that the doors would not 'dead-lock' from the key fob (press once to lock - ok; press again to dead-lock - no joy).

Last weekend, I had to change a brake light bulb, and immediatedly the alarm started working again, as did the dead-lock.  This lasted only until this morning when both have stopped again.

Any ideas?  Bad earth somewhere?  I don't want to leave this too long as these kind of problems have a habit of getter worse rather than better.

Thanks in advance

David

would check the fuse's, or the earth from the battery, may be just a bad connection or corroded, :y

Could it be something to do with door switches, does the interior courtesy light still go on/off ?

Pop the drivers door courtesy light switch out and clean the earth ring. You'll find if the drivers door puddle light doesn't come on it won't deadlock.

Aha! You're right - the puddle lights don't always come on! (I assume this is the white lights on the inside door card).

I'll clean the switches and report back later...

Thanks!

New edit - Crikey, you blokes are good!  Opened the door, prodded the switch in the A pillar a couple of times and the puddle lights came on.  Closed door and the double lock work! Yippee!

Now I'm locking and buzzing willy-nilly! ;D

Will fix them properly when I can get hold of the proper torx tool.

Thanks again
