What Set-UP??

I was just wondering what audio set up is installed in my MV6? Its X30XE 1997 Opel Omega MV6 3.0 V6. Any clues. TIA :)

By the way, also advise of this is a facelift or prefacelift model? Thanks again.

You tell us.. it's your car ;) ;D ;D

Look for the head unit model number on the face. Does it say Bose on it anywhere? Do you have an amp mounted in the boot (under the rear shelf on a saloon or left hand cubby hole if an estate)?

No amp and no Bose markings on the head unit.

The standard setup on the minifacelifted MV6 was the CCR600 radio cassette with the 6 CD autochanger in the boot.

Bose wasn't an option on this model, although would be a very easy option to fit (I did it to my '97 MV6) and one you could do even if the original stereo is missing as the breakers would do a complete kit of head unit, amp, changer, speakers and wiring loom.

If its a saloon then you would almost certainly end up with an Elite parcel shelf, which would contain the rear sunblind feature and fill in that empty switch position next to the heated passenger seat switch.

Thanks for the tips mate! What is installed is an SC804 casette head unit and a 6 disc cd changer. Both are Philips brand. So this car is an Elite? TIA :)

Sorry, I didnt read the OP properly.

The MV6 designation was used from launch by Opel but only from '97 by Vauxhall, as a mainstream model designation anyway. However, models for the UK Police were also marked MV6 although had a specification specific for the Police.

If you have a 804 then you wont have Bose. Your model is an Opel "Elite", with the exact specification being dictated by the market that the car was made for - which could be anything to be honest as all Omega models were built on the same line in Russelsheim (near Frankfurt).

Hope that makes sense, and sorry for any confusion ...

MV6 retail wasn't launched in UK until MY98. It only ever had the CCR600 in minifacelift form.  Opel MV6 is broadly similar to UK Elite

So in this case it will easier for me to replace the head unit and speakers with aftermaket ones....and probably install an amp too while I'm at it!  But how about the display which appears on the MID when the stereo is being used? Will I lose this?

Some aftermarket stereos have the ability to still display radio info on the MID via adapters.

Even if you don't have a stereo/adapter combination that can, the other MID functions will continue to work normally, just without radio info
