Cannot turn off the alarm and start the engine
« on: 25 March 2010, 09:52:26 »

Greetings and salutations again :)

So as the spring finally came here, I have decided to fix my older Omega (2.5 V6 Caravan made in 1994).
It got totally frozen during winter (even with antifreeze), so it wasnīt running for cca 3 months and it killed my battery. So today I put new one and the alarm started to horn, but I was unable to stop it with fob (the battery in fob should be okay, the LED is blinking). I had to unlock the car with key, which turned off the alarm sound, but the alarm light in car is still on. When I tried to start up, everything lighted up, but that was all. The engine even didnīt try to start.
I suppose it is because the alarm wasn't turned off properly, but what can I do now? Also few years ago I had to change the ingnition lock, so I have one key with fob for unlocking the car and second key without anything to start the engine.

Thanks for any help

You need to re-synch your keyfob with the car.To do this you need to insert the key into the ignition and turn the key so that the dashborad warning lights come on (i.e. just before the further turn of the key to start the car) Once you have got the dashboard lights illuminated press the keyfob lock button followed by the unlock button. This should then operate the central locking system and you have now got keyfob and car 'talking to each other' You should now be able to start the car.Hope that helps. :y

Hi,

thanks for help, will try it when I got from work.
I have the large oval keyfob with one circle button for locking/unlocking and little button on side for 2nd phase of locking. I thought it is done by longer hold of the circular button, but the result was only several flashes of the led on keyfob. So I will try tu push it as for lock and then push it again.
I hope this will work, but what are other possibilities, if it doesnīt? :)
