Some general questions!!
« on: 16 May 2010, 20:16:35 »

Hi all, I'm adding a bit of wiring to my v6 for a couple of toys todo with my voluntary work....

1. What's the easiest way to remove the blanking plate were the blind switch would be - do I need to remove the stereo and surround to remove this plate??

2. Is there a live feed behind this blanking plate which I could use for these toys??

3. What's the easiest way to route some cable to the light switch/light stalk??

4. After routing the above, what the easiest way to route the cable towards the engine bay/front of car??

Regards

Shaun

Perhaps you could be a little more vague? ;D ;D

1. Blind switch blanking plate just pops out, butter knife under the lower edge, add a little pressure and bingo ;) No need to remove the stereo. If you want to add wiring then yes you'll need to remove the CC panel.

2. Switched live yes.

3. Follow the main loom over the matrix pipes and behind the fuse panels.

4. Again back across the dash loom, behind the glovebox and up into the pollen filter area.

So come on, what are you wiring up? ;)

Using a standard 3 pin hazard flasher unit and 5 pin changeover relay....

Let's say volunteer and emergency... That should give you a clue took me about an hour to configure it....

Would I be able to use the connections for the blind instead of wiring in a fuse etc??

Yes, I should have thought so. Personally I'd just use the switched live as a trigger on a 5 pin relay behind the glovebox connected to a new fused supply.

Blimey, you must be one of the only people on this forum who is trying to retro fit flashing lights to a car, when everybody else on here is trying to put right the bodges made by the feds in installing them in the first place.

Methinks you should swap you car with someone else on the forum, and you will probably find all the wires are in place
