Electric mirrors fault
« on: 15 May 2010, 10:09:30 »

Morning all....
My electric mirrors do not work. I have checked Fuse 13 ? and perfectly ok. The toggle switch in the drivers armrest is very wobbly, so I am suspecting a wiring fault/broken toggle. Thing is....this looks like a 'prise out' unit complete with window switches. Is this so, as I do not want to go levering with a screwdriver and totally knacker it ...:(
Having had workshop manuals with all my other cars and not having one for this vehicle is like having your hands cut off.
My 2.5 Elite Estate V6 is first reg July 2000 so I assume the 'up to 1999' Haynes manuals are no good.
Should it turn out to be a motor problem, where is it located...in the door?
Hope someone can assist, but if not, I ought to be able to get it sorted under warranty, although this is bloody inconvenient at the moment due to lack of other transport and distance.
Cheers fellas.
*As a footnote, being a Newbie here, can I say that I am GOBSMACKED at the help and info on this forum....A++++++++++

The unit just pops out as a whole (with switches), though due to the soft finish, often better to remove doorcard, and push the switch panel out from underneath...

Hi J
Many thanks for all the info on my visit. Really much appreciated. Removed door card, and door panel exactly knckered as you said. Alarms and central locking seem to be connected to a wiring problem, probably from the jagged edges as we did get a momentary operation when fiddling around.
One last thing, can you remind me who it was for wheel alignment ??
