Replacement Stereo
« on: 16 August 2010, 11:23:29 »

Hi guys,

Ive decided to replace my Bose Setup with something newer.
I was thinking about getting the Pioneer FH-80BT (Double DIN) stereo. What else would I need (connectors for MID, steering wheel etc.).

Or can anyone else recommend another setup?

All I really need is for it to play MP3s,WMA etc., have a USB input and also be able to connect my Subwoofer and Speakers to it.

Presumably, you are changing all the amps and speakers?

BOSE amplifier is not compatable with aftermarket head units, and teh BOSE speakers are 2 Ohms, so they will also need to be changed if going aftermarket.

just a question - what is the actual issue - only I happened to be passing an ICE dealer I have used for years for bits and pieces and the techy bloke said there is no issue with the right head unit.. Obviously I was "Er are you sure" but wondered what the issue is as Stereo man says there isn't, but its well documented on there that there is.. ?

The problem is that the BOSE head unit uses non-standard line level voltages, and the RCA voltage converters from just about every manufacturer out there do not allow correct operation - tell that to the techie guy and see if he has a solution - but I doubt it.
