Interesting discussion on Omega car seats
« on: 21 February 2008, 14:22:06 »

I came across this discussion about "our" seats. Personally, I think they're excellent and I reckon the originator of this thread should be looking at medical reasons for his pain rather than the seats.

" My dad had chronic back problems when he had his 2001 V6 Omega. Not sure if it was from constantly leaning into the engine bay to see what had broken down or all the time he spent in the cab of an AA recovery truck."

On a serious note I don't get on well with the standard Omega seats. They don't seem to provide enough lateral support and I have had problems in the past with other cars where you're always straining to resist the cornering forces and that causes back ache IME.

I find the sports seats more comfy than my living room chairs though.

The other problem is that with so much adjustability you have to presevere a bit to find what suits you.

Heated seats are great if your back is suffering a bit too.

I don't no but maybe he has the seat base set at the wrong angle and is cutting off blood flow to and from the legs, for example the seat edge nearest the steering wheel is to high, a bit like what happens when people fly.
It would seem very odd to happen so quickly though, most people can put up with some discomfort for an hour maybe.
I would think he should try adjusting his seat correctly, and if that don't work seek medical advice.

P.S. love the comments knocking Vauxhall's, it's no different to me when I knock bmw's on other forum's.

From someone who suffers from serious back problems, i find the seats in my omega very comfy. The trick is to try many different adjustments untill they work well for you. The only other seats that i can say better the omega seats were the leather ones in my old Range Rover vouge SE. They were superb.

For the Elite and MV6 GM consulted Recaro, who are regarding as about the best in the seating business.

I have done 60,000 miles in my elite now and have not had any issues with back pain its about setting the seat up properly.

another thing i have is an orthopedic roll (bit like a sausage roll but not as tasty ;) ) i have this at the base of my back and it helps a lot with posture

AHHH so that’s maybe why I did my back in other week! - I will blame it all  on Omega now! :P

Seriously though, I think the seats in the Omega are brilliant. Don’t see what that guys problem is with them!
