hid problem

hi fellas,

my nearside hid low beam has stopped working,

for a few nights it went a funny red/purple colour and now its gone completely. from that does it suggest its the bulb or the balast? if its not clear i suppose i can always sway bulbs and see just hoping to save time out it the cold

In my experience a xenon bulb emitting a pink/red etc light means it's on it's way out. It sounds most likely the bulb has failed. I've had the same before, it's best to change xenon bulbs in a pair.

yup, failry standard hid bulb dying procedure.

please dont waste money on chinese copies, get some phillips or osram d2s bulbs for a decent replacement  :y

ok, ill change the pair, but what bulbs do i need? are there diffenet types liek the old h1 h4 etc or all xenon bulbs the same fitment? what about power/rating etc. never had to do an hid bulb before

You only need the one, but it could be a different shade to the OE one. Shame it's the nearside behind the battery. I used ebay, but it appears I was one of the lucky ones that didn't get a dodgy one.  There is a very good chart somewhere on here, I will try to find it.

d2s is the fittment

all the same power, its the colour that changes
you want 4300k for factory colour
5000k for optimum colour
6000k is whiter with a blueish tinge, but as you hit here and above, actual illumination drops off

just another question, facelift main beams h1 or h7?

H7 on my Facelift. althought is widely recommended on here to fit "Nightbreakers"
